Introduction to the Department
The Transformative AfCFTA, Afrocentric Philosophy and Development unit serves as the philosophical, ideological, and strategic cornerstone of the Africa Change Development Studies Institute (AC-DSI / ASC AfCFTA Studies Centre). Grounded in a historic legacy reclamation mission, this department provides the theoretical foundation for driving Pan-African self-reliance, collective development, and socioeconomic dignity across Zimbabwe, Southern Africa, and Sub-Saharan Africa.
Â
Rooted in the historical lineage of Pan-African frameworks—from the 1979 Monrovia Declaration of Commitments, Lagos Plan of Action (1980), and Abuja Treaty (1991) to AU Agenda 2063 and the AfCFTA—the department champions an Afrocentric paradigm. It seeks to replace drawn-back local and continental factors (such as institutionalized corruption, dispensational anarchy, xenophobia, and internal conflicts) with an inclusive, law-abiding, accountable, and progressive culture. By integrating Afrocentric philosophy with 4th and 5th Industrial Revolution (4IR/5IR) digital opportunities, the unit grounds all institute programs in a distinct African identity while facilitating mutual partnership with the global village.
